July 23, 2026
Disney Entertainment Television has opened two activations at San Diego Comic-Con 2026: a Percy Jackson and the Olympians experience at the main entrance to the Gaslamp Quarter, and Hulu Animayhem: Fandom Fuel Up at Palm Trees Garden. Both run July 23 through July 26, and both are returning off-sites at the convention.
The Percy Jackson and the Olympians Experience
The Percy Jackson experience stands at the corner of 5th Avenue and L Street. The structure is a titan-sized trident: in renders from Disney Entertainment Television, the walkthrough traces the trident’s outline from above, and guests enter through a Greek temple facade.
Inside, guests choose a journey with Percy, Annabeth, or Thalia on a quest to defeat the Titans. The walkthrough includes hidden season 3 easter eggs, prophecy clues, photo moments, and Camp Half-Blood giveaways.
The Percy Jackson experience runs the following hours:
- Thursday, July 23: 9:30 AM to 7:00 PM
- Friday, July 24: 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM
- Saturday, July 25: 9:30 AM to 7:00 PM
- Sunday, July 26: 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM
Hulu Animayhem: Fandom Fuel Up
Hulu’s Animayhem activation is themed to Futurama and King of the Hill this year. The Planet Express delivery crew from Futurama serves Fry’s 100 Days of Cold Brew at a coffee-shop set, and Robata Chane, Bobby Hill’s restaurant in the new King of the Hill episodes, serves yakitori. Guests can take photos with character cutouts, including Hank Hill at his grill with Dale, Bill, and Boomhauer along the backyard fence, and pick up on-site giveaways.

Hulu Animayhem: Fandom Fuel Up runs the following hours:
- Thursday, July 23 to Saturday, July 25: 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM
- Sunday, July 26: 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Disney Entertainment Television describes the two off-sites as some of the most popular at the convention. San Diego Comic-Con 2026 runs July 23 through 26 at the San Diego Convention Center and the surrounding Gaslamp Quarter.
Lessons for Theme Parks
Both franchises ran activations at the 2025 convention too. Last year’s Percy Jackson experience was themed to Sea of Monsters, and guests learned which god claimed them and traded drachma coins for mythological merchandise. King of the Hill ran as the Hill family’s backyard BBQ with lawn games and photo ops. This year both returned with new themes tied to current seasons.
SES wrote about what theme parks can learn from Comic-Con activations after last year’s convention. Pop-ups cost less and move faster than permanent installations, and they generate behavioral data that streaming numbers and box office receipts cannot: which IPs draw the longest waits, which merchandise sells out first, and whether guests spend more time in passive walkthroughs or interactive formats. Studios rebook the formats that worked.
Theme parks are building more IP-driven temporary experiences, from the IP houses at Halloween Horror Nights to Universal’s Fan Fest Nights and Disney’s hard-ticket parties. Studios try these formats at Comic-Con first, in four-day pop-ups, before a park commits to a permanent version.
