Pursuit Attractions and Hospitality (Denver, CO) has acquired Eagle Wing Tours, a whale watching and marine wildlife operator in Victoria, British Columbia, the company announced July 15. The transaction closed July 14. The purchase price was $23.85 million, according to a Pursuit investor presentation reported by the Victoria Times Colonist.

Founded in Victoria in 1997, Eagle Wing Tours operates from Fisherman’s Wharf and carries more than 50,000 guests a year on a fleet of five vessels. The company runs conservation-focused whale watching on the Salish Sea and, per the release, was one of the first wildlife exploration companies to complete a Now for Nature Strategy, a science-based framework covering conservation, research, sustainability, and education. Eagle Wing continues to operate with no immediate changes to its operations, team, or leadership, per the release. Its partnerships with local Indigenous communities, researchers, and environmental organizations will continue.

The purchase is Pursuit’s first on Vancouver Island. Victoria welcomes nearly five million visitors a year, per the release. Pursuit said the acquisition follows its Vision 2030 strategy: organic growth investments plus acquisitions of established experiences in markets with strong long-term demand. The company (NYSE: PRSU) operates attractions and lodging in Canada, the United States, Iceland, and Costa Rica.

“Eagle Wing is exactly the kind of business we look for: market-leading, locally respected, deeply connected to place and operating in a destination with strong long-term demand fundamentals,” said David Barry, president and CEO of Pursuit.

The deal adds to the long run of consolidation among experience operators. Merlin Entertainments went private in a $6 billion deal in 2019, and Six Flags and Cedar Fair merged in 2024. Pursuit is buying at a different scale: single, established tour and attraction businesses in destinations that already draw visitors.
