IAAPA Expo Europe, the region’s premier attractions-industry trade show, is now a Certified Sustainable Event by Greentime, the association announced. The certification covers the exhibition floor at Excel London, running September 22 to 24, and followed an independent third-party review that scored the event at 76% across environmental, social, and governance criteria, from transport and waste management to working conditions, diversity, and financial sustainability.
“We are seeing sustainability become an increasingly important business topic across the attractions industry,” said Ylva Linder, IAAPA’s global director of sustainability. The measures behind the certification are practical rather than sweeping: promoting lower-emission travel options, reusable modular shell scheme stands, improved accessibility, and programs that get students and young professionals onto the floor. “Sustainability is not achieved by one person or one department, it requires many people working together, continuously looking for ways to improve,” Linder said.
Certification programs like this tend to matter most as procurement signals. Exhibitors increasingly answer sustainability questionnaires from their own clients, and a certified show floor gives suppliers a line for those forms, which is why Linder frames certification as “a valuable tool for driving progress and continuous improvement across the industry.”
IAAPA Expo Europe opens the association’s fall run: London September 22 to 24, followed by IAAPA Expo in Orlando, the industry’s flagship show, November 16 to 20. Press registration for the Europe show is open now.
